Morphett Street is a main road in the west of the central business district (CBD) of Adelaide, South Australia. It runs north-south, between North and South Terraces. Morphett Street was named after Sir John Morphett, a prominent pioneer, whose votes at a meeting on 10 February 1837, (including numerous proxies), were critical in confirming the site of Adelaide.〔(''Sir John Morphett'' ), History of Adelaide Through Street Names, www.historysouthaustralia.net.
